New commercial and productive hub
Tubize, Belgium

In short

After the end of its historical foundry activity, the municipality of Tubize planned a new quarter on the huge footprint of the demolished steelwork and launched a competition for the new business and commercial hub in the northern corner of the area acting as pivot among the two existing settlements and the planned new one. The project is a sequence of huge halls recalling the industrial buildings of the XIX century that, cut out by the silhouette of the lot in its perimeter, generates varied façades depending on the interfaced landscape. Under the vaults, stacks of freely configurable open space floors house startups, workshops and commercial activities. The main hall though shelters a pedestrian boulevard that links with underpasses the old village on the northwestern edge and the new quarter on the southern side. And along the path it distributes the internal activities intersecting the courts scattered on the complex.
