Open! Studi Aperti 2019

On saturday 25th May 2019, in the historic district of via Sant’Apollonia, recovered thanks to the 1969 Historic Center Safeguard Plan by Pier Luigi Cervellati, MIRO architetti and Lavì City will open their doors to the public.
During the third edition of Open! Studi Aperti, you can visit the courts and the exhibitions in this characteristic Bolognese context.

MIRO Gallery is glad to present NOWHERE, a personal exposition by Giulio Cassanelli, curated by Giovanni Avolio and Maria Chiara Wang.

Giulio Cassanelli’s artistic research focuses on the combination of gesture, gravity, temperature and materials: metal objects of different shapes and sizes are embed, through a fusion process, on extruded polystyrene supports. The intentionality of the idea that wants to control the action fades into the imponderability and unpredictability of the reaction of the support. The sign, resulting from the performative action of the artist, marks the ‘here and now’. From this concept derives the title of the exhibition that does not want to be just the echo of the NOWHERE installation exhibited in the internal courtyard of MIRO Gallery, but  the symbol of the poetic philosophical principle of the space-time . In this way the instant is frozen and extended to infinity. The exhibition project for MIRO Gallery represents the progressive evolution of the sign that characterizes the artistic production of Cassanelli. The rhythmic action, repeated with “rigor and discipline”, which distinguishes the Superfici series, becomes more casual and free in Curvature, where the multiplicity and seriality of the grooves of the previous studies is recomposed in a single track; a tribute to the spatialism of Lucio Fontana, that the Bolognese artist evolves into a “gravitational concept”.

Spazio Lavì  is glad to present Baby Boomers Design, curated by Piero Orlandi.
Architects, engineers, urban planners, teachers, artists, has been invited to present a work. They were all baby boomers, they were born in the years of the Italian economic miracle and they completed their training when it was normal to work in groups, they believed strongly in interdisciplinarity, they imagined a different society. The exhibition shows models, serigraphs, freehand sketches, watercolors, sculptures, photographs, collographies, comics, paintings, sketches, project tables. A vast and heterogeneous set of things that seeks a generational assonance, cemented by years of collaboration, frequent meetings, dialogues, exchanges of ideas. All these works tell us about the Seventies, which for all  the authors were the beginnings of the profession, but they reach can reach us now; present a precise moment in their career or a single guiding idea capable of guiding the professional path for a long time, a collage of personal memorabilia or the first draft of a research; they tell us about architectural competitions, art exhibitions, industrial design objects, museum layouts, territorial plans, made or imagined journeys, written and published books, small and large construction sites, tools and work tools. Different personalities and different paths emerge, but a common background can be found in the unbounded trust for experimentation and projects.
