The Two Towers are the symbol of Bologna, its most famous monument, and a visual reference point for its inhabitants. In spite of this they’ve never been lit at night, and their top disappears in the darkness at the dusk. The sudden awareness of this paradoxical situation during an evening promenade gave us the spark to find a way to resolve it. Once presented the idea to the Municipality and obtained a green light, we’ve coordinated the whole operation finding in ASCOM (The local merchant’s association) a sponsor able to present to the city this new night view. The realised project is less courageous than the first idea, widely censored by the superintendency, but the main goal has been reached: the two towers now glow in the skyline of the city.Le due torri sono il simbolo di Bologna, il suo monumento più famoso, e un riferimento visuale per i suoi abitanti. Malgrado ciò non sono mai state illuminate di notte e la loro sommità spariva nel buio a calar del sole. L’improvvisa consapevolezza di questa paradossale situazione durante una passeggiata notturna ha innescato la scintilla di volerla risolvere. Dopo aver presentato l’idea al Comune e ottenuto il consenso, abbiamo coordinato l’intera operazione trovando in ASCOM Bologna il finanziatore che potesse regalare alla città una nuova immagine notturna. Il progetto realizzato è meno coraggioso della prima idea, largamente censurata dalla soprintendenza, ma l’obiettivo è stato raggiunto: le due torri adesso rilucono nello skyline della città.
